- Good day, dear boys and girls, good day dear guests. We welcome you at our show “Star hour”. Let’s great our players. There are eight of them. And they introduce themselves (the players present 6 sentences about themselves).

I hometask                            SELF-PRESENTATION

II Thank you for your presentations. You were good. Now, please, introduce your assistants. (Each player has an assistant who helps him during the game). Assistants take seats near the players, away from spectators.

Now let me introduce you the judges.

This is the time-keeper. She will show how many minutes are left.

Dear players, let’s discuss the rules of our game. You will get a star for each correct answer. Your assistant is allowed to prompt if you are not sure.

Spectators are not allowed to say anything connected with the task of our game.

        We wish you good luck!

So, we begin the first round.

I ROUND

III. Dear players, you can see the names and pictures of different jobs and numbers under each job. We will read you descriptions of these jobs. Your task is to guess what job we are speaking about and raise the card with the number which corresponds to the job. Is the task clear?

The 2 players who have got the least numbers of stars leave the game.

       Let’s begin.

   1. Cashier       Someone whose job is to receive or pay out money in a shop

   2. Cook         Someone who prepares food as their job

   3. Dentist      Someone whose job is to treat people's teeth

   4. Musician   Someone who plays a musical instrument, especially very well or as a job

   5. Doctor      Someone who is trained to treat people who are ill

   6. Farmer      Someone who owns or manages a farm

   7. Firefighter Someone whose job is to stop fires burning

   8. Teacher Someone whose job is to teach

JUDGES Players(2) No …. Thank you for your game. Try to improve your English and, may be, you will win the next time.

IV. We begin the second round.

II ROUND

Look at the letters. You are to make up as many words as possible. You will get a star for each correct word. You are given 5 minutes to do this task. You may use each letter only once. You are “a star” to use extra letter. So the time is 5 minutes.

We give the words to the judge. And in a few minute we will learn the 4 winners and 2 players will leave the game.

III ROUND

There are 4 players left. And all of us want to know who will be the winner of our show. How many English proverbs do you know?

The words from 3 proverbs are mixed up here. So, you are to restore the proverbs. Then you have to write them and give Russian equivalents. You are given 4 minutes.

1)     The shoemaker's son always goes barefoot

2)     A lawyer never goes to law himself.

3)     The tailor makes the man.

The time is over. Give me your papers. And let’s listen to our judge.

JUDGE Players (2) No … don’t get upset!

VI. We begin the last round.

IV ROUND

So, I will play with you both. The most quick-witted will be the winner of our show.

I keep in my mind a name of a job. You should ask me questions to guess what it is. Let’s begin.

This is the winner of our show. Our heartest congratulations! You are the best today . I hope you have something to say to other players, to your friends, to the teachers!

Thank you very much. Our Star Hour is over.
